Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed Shafik graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Kasr Al-Ainy, Cairo University in 1991. He was appointed as a resident physician in the same college, and then as a teaching assistant. He obtained a master’s degree in 1996, followed by a Ph.D. Since completing his Ph.D., he has specialized as a gastroenterologist and colorectal consultant, specifically in colon, rectal, and anal surgeries. He completed training in endoscopic surgeries and obtained a diploma in gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery from the University of Strasbourg, France, in 2000. He has been the head of the anal and colon surgery unit at Kasr El-Ainy Hospitals since 2019

He has extensive experience performing surgeries related to the colon, rectum, anus, and hemorrhoids, as well as diagnostic procedures such as endoscopy and microscopic examinations. Dr. Shafik also holds several official positions in medical organizations that reflect his leadership in his field. He has also published numerous scientific publications that aid in better understanding diseases of the digestive system and developing effective treatment methods

Dr. Ali Shafiq has received several awards and recognitions in the field of colorectal and pelvic diseases. For Example, in 2008, he was named Man of the Year by the American Biographical Institute. He was also awarded the Hippocrates Award in the medical category in 2010 by the University of Cambridge. Additionally, he has received many other awards and recognitions for his contributions to the field
